First I'd like to thank Danial for all the effort he's put in and the continual effort he puts into Audax UK especially with the organising of LEL in 2013.
I've been doing DIY rides for a few years now and have done many through different organisers including trials of the DIY by GPS done by Danial last year.
Right down to entry for my rides.
DIY audax rides are rides you plan yourself and submit a route to your DIY organiser for approval before you ride.
Rides can be any distance from 50km upwards but if points are your target you need to submit routes from 200km (2 points) 300km (3 points) upwards in 100km increments up to whatever distance you fancy doing.
It doesn't matter what route you choose to ride as long as the shortest distance between all controls adds up to the total distance nominated.
I use Autoroute 2005 for the checking of routes, if you use AR yourself and your one is compatible you can send me the AXE file to be checked. If not send me the controls by email to diyaudax@tesco.net and I'll get back to you asap, please allow time for your entry to be processed just in case I'm on holiday or out riding.
The Audax UK webpage has now been updated, cards can be purchased and rides can be entered online by using the links on there.
Online entry can now also be used without a GPS, you enter the same way do the ride and send me the receipts when you are done.
I will also be doing validation by GPS, Just send the track log by email after you've completed the ride and I'll check it and update the site with points for your ride.
The current cost of cards and online entry is £4 for 1 card, £10 for 3 cards and £16 for 6 cards (to allow for postage costs).
You can also now do Extended Calendar Events, these allow you to ride to and from Calendar rides. For instance making a 200km ride into a 300km etc.
Or if you have a local 100km you like doing and you want to gain points for it you can ride it as a 200.
These can be entered on Ian Hennessey's website via Martin Malins' page.
Rides can of course be entered the traditional way by sending the entry and cheque (payable to Richard Forrest) the price for posted entries is £3 for 1, £10 for 4 and £15 for 6.
